Barack Obama defends gay marriage.

The U.S. president, Barack Obama, said on Wednesday (9) in an interview with U.S. television network ABC argues that the marriage of persons of the same sex.

According to The New York Times, Obama is the first U.S. president to defend gay marriage during his tenure.

"In a way," Obama said in an interview at the White House to host ABC's Robin Roberts, "I concluded that, personally, it is important to move forward and say that I think same-sex couples should have the right to marry."
The phrase Obama ended a long period of pressure by the homosexual movement in the U.S.. Many members of the gay movement supported Obama during his election mandate, and felt frutrados since the president had not, until now, reciprocated the support defending the marriage of persons of the same sex. The pressure increased on Saturday when Vice President Joseph Biden said he "felt comfortable" with the idea of same-sex couples marrying in the U.S.. Biden's statement made to the press pressed the president, asking Obama position daily.

In the interview, Obama said that his views on gay marriage has changed over the years, in part because of conversations with friends who are gay.

"I hesitated on the issue of marriage because I thought that civil unions would be enough," Obama said. "I was sensitive to the fact that, for many people, the word marriage invokes powerful traditions and religious beliefs," he said, and added, "but I always had the belief that gays and lesbians should be treated fairly and equally" .

The well-known Biblical account of Sodom and Gomorrah reveals God's feelings about homosexuality. He said: "The cry of complaint about Sodom and Gomorrah, yes, it's loud, and their sin, yes, it is very serious." (Genesis 18:20). The extent of their sinful depravity at that time was apparent when two guests visited the righteous man Lot "The men of Sodom, surrounded the house, from boy to old man, all the people in one mob. And they called to Lot and said to him: 'Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out unto us, that we may have relations with them. '"(Genesis 19:4, 5) The Bible says:" The men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord. "- Genesis 13:13. The Bible is clear: God does not endorse or turn a blind eye to homosexual practices. He also disapproves of people who "consent with those practicing them." (Romans 1:32) The "marriage" can not give homosexuality a cloak of respectability. The guidance of God that "marriage is honorable among all" precludes homosexual unions, which he considers obnoxious. - Hebrews 13:4.
