The Dying Grain of Wheat

"Verily, verily I say unto you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone, but if it dies, it produces much fruit." John 12:24.

Jesus speaks to the Greeks who were in Jerusalem: "Now among those who went up to worship at the feast were some Greeks, who spoke to Philip and begged: we want to see Jesus" John 12: 20-21. The grain of wheat, a symbology was used to explain life and death as well as death and resurrection. These issues were cause for strife between Greeks and Jews. For the Greeks, death was something terrible, because the body was needed valuable radiate the beauty of the soul, the good and the beautiful that was steeped in the culture of this people, as the essence of ethical values. Good and beautiful does not necessarily have to do with aesthetics, but with ethics, character, wisdom.

The death of the grain of wheat, meant death to the world, to Greek philosophy, which dominated the thinking at the time. Died, was reborn into Christ Jesus through faith in His name. The grain of wheat falls into the earth on to become plant undresses his bark strips down and resurfaces with new look (inside and outside). Yes, indeed, this grain will retain some of its elements, but will reborn into a new life that will give rise to many other grains. It's a fantastic symbolism, so simple and complex at the same time, because it tells us about eternity with God and this is what is of most worldwide, and it fell on a tiny grain of wheat, care for the firm hands of Jesus!

Jesus could have used the example of any other grain, but when talking about wheat, He also speaks of himself: Wheat bread is. He was the Bread of Life, who should die and be raised again the third day. Leave the physical appearance of a man, born of woman, to receive a glorified body and be elevated to heaven. Acts 1: 6-9. It was all foolishness to Greeks and Jews were also divided when it came to death and resurrection. Sadducees and Pharisees differed about it: "For the Sadducees declare there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: while the Pharisees acknowledge all these things" (Acts 23:8). But Jesus did not speak to stroke egos, to please men and systems He spoke the truth, He is the Truth: "Gentlemen Greeks, came up to Jerusalem to see me, know that we must die to live. undress It takes the old world, old man and have put on the waiver of eternity sin by repentance which will show you who I am. "

See Jesus, was the request of the Greeks. See Jesus, is what many also call today. And for this to happen it is necessary not only a journey from one place to another, from one church to another, from one philosophy to another, from religion in religion, superstition. To see Jesus, you must love him more than anything. And if we love Him, keep His commandments which pose as the center of our lives, desires and everything else:

"He that loveth his life shall lose it: but he that hateth his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life" John 12:25.

Since in the wisdom of God the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God to save believers through the foolishness of preaching. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to the Greeks.
1 Corinthians 1:21-23

Gospel is pure and simple, powerful and transformative. The largest signal present in the Gospel is the new man, the one by the grace and power of the Holy Spirit, is transformed. Do not like the Pharisees, who sought signs and Greeks wisdom. But seek Jesus Christ and He will give us wisdom and signs. Decretemos "the death of the grain of wheat" and the new reality will be born in us. Farmers and experts in wheat, wrote:

"Wheat grains are small, oval-shaped with a slit in the length direction and covered with a hard shell. Inside the shell are starch and gluten substances, and for feeding valuable, to give plant the strength needed for it to grow. "

You see, the transformation of grain into plant is visible, but it happens first inside, because deep inside the grain is what is the force needed for its development. And it all starts in our hearts, it is first transformed and consequently our actions, attitudes become visible to men generating so many seeds that will serve bread to other lives, because the new life Jesus is. The decision to change is ours, the transformation is God's work. The grain has life in himself, but not sprout in plant form, if there were who regasse, take care not to be plucked from the ground, stepped on and thrown away as useless. And so Christ is for us, who indulges It is optimized to resurrect the last day.

"For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in his resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead, dies no more, death hath no more dominion over ele.Romanos ".6:5-9

Prayer: Lord God, I need your help to make me a new person to follow and obey Your Word. Not crave signals, nor wisdom, but Thy face, Thy life in me and everything will be transformed, and so the signs will follow those who believe and wisdom will be in my mouth. Forgive my sins, I repent of my heart for having been disobedient to You Take me as a grain of wheat and remade me, to the glory of His name, amen.
